The 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail® Motorcycle - Part II
Have you seen the 2010 Heritage Softail from Harley Davidson? It's classic HD quality. The Heritage name is a
throwback to different design styles from Harley-Davidson's past and it shows in the lines of the machines. The
definitively wide fenders on the unusually fat front fork remind us of a simpler time; chrome tank accessories,
head lamps and dual chrome passing lamps make the over all look of this hog shine. The odometer and speedometer are
all mounted to the FatBob Style gas tank, and the machine comes equipped with plenty of "idiot lights" just in case
you're so busy riding that you forget about the bike underneath you.
The saddle bags are styled from the 1950's and are covered in chrome studs also. The low slung rider's seat
allows for a full sized passenger seat with a "sissy bar." The Harley-Davidson Heritage softail is a visual blast
from the hardtail Harley past with all the cushion of the softail rear suspension design and the modern bells and
whistles that proves that 2010 is alive and well.
The 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail comes equipped with an engine that is ready for a tour but equipped
for a ride through the city. This bike gets thirty five miles per gallon in the city and fifty four miles per
gallon on the highway and has a fuel capacity of five gallons. This is considerably better than most fuel efficient
cars on the market even though the fuel tank is considerably smaller. The 96 cubic inch, air cooled Twin-cam engine
outstrips other hogs with a compression rate of 9.2:1 , but has none of the residual difficulties that can
accompany higher compression rates in motorcycles. At three thousand RPM's this bad boy puts out 92.195 pounds of
torque. This means don't be overly aggressive with the throttle or you will be spooning your eyeballs out of the
back of your brain bucket. The Harley Davidson Heritage Softail is a beast that means business.
The Heritage Softail has a ground clearance of 5.1 inches and a lean angle of 24.4 inches. This indicates that a
rider can lean about two feet to one side until he or she had better react before the hog lays down on the
concrete. The four piston front and two piston rear brakes will stop on a dime and the chrome exhaust system comes
equipped with dual mufflers, again embracing the old designs and compacting it with modern features in the Heritage
manner. This hog comes in about six different colors, not including a few custom colors that you can get off of the
line.
In addition, you can purchase accessories that further add to the touch of nostalgia that comes with riding a
Heritage Softail. Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Motorcycles are a good way to reminisce the glorious road tours
of your past while looking towards the future in terms of engine capacity and performance.
