The 2011 Harley Davidson Fatboy Softail® Motorcycle
The 2011 Harley Davidson Fat Boy is hot! It's a standard softail motorcycle, but this beauty has plenty more
than your average softail, just on a visual level. The Fat Boy isn't just a pretty face, however. With it's
Davidson standard engine, it roars like a beast and rides like one too.
Getting excellent gas mileage, it's powerful torque output gives a rider the urge to cruise down the highway at
top speed. The cost is also favorable. The Fat Boy is affordable for anyone with enough to buy a small vehicle and
is possibly cheaper to own. In short, this motorcycle is well worth what you'd be paying for it. Let's explore this
bad machine outside in.
The design for this softail is toss back from the Sixties, and recalls certain features that remind us of a
Harley Davidson Heritage: There is lots of chrome on display and the gas tank is small and teardrop shaped while it's seat is large and in charge with room for two. The
sissy bar is optional, but it's for sissies! The back fender is long and boxy instead of bobbed, and the front
fender appears to come just short of the wheels.
The dual exhaust pipes are staggered a majority of the frame and engine are exposed chrome as well. Over all,
the bike is confident - the handlebars are set high and not as low slung or wide as some of the other designs. The
thirty one degree rake makes the bike look tall and easy to handle. The looks are just the icing on the cake
though, the engine itself is a bad mamajamma.
Harley Davidson softail motorcycles have a reputation for carrying a "big twin" and the Fat Boy is no exception.
This machine runs on an air cooled, twin cam 96b. This means that it doesn't have a water coolant system in it,
which is less maintenance, and the twin cam can put out it's maximum torque of 93.7 ft lbs. That means you may need
to hold your eyeballs down and scream a little when you ride, because you are on a mission to get somewhere! The 35
mile per gallon gas mileage that you get in town and the 54 miles per gallon that you will get over the road will
take you as far as you need to go without stopping for expensive fuel every hour. As well as
having the power to take on ninety six horses and save money, the Fat Boy has all the bells and whistles you
need to monitor your ride. LED and speed indicator lights are just a couple of the instruments mounted to the
tank and on display for you to have a safe comfortable ride.
Harley Davidson's have always been affordable bikes, and the 2011 Fat Boy is a first time softail motorcycle
buyer's dream. The bike starts out at 15,999 and with customizations can reach into 17, 000. The inclining price
factors in customizations, like paint jobs and designs, and other minute customizations that add up to your total
cost. This makes the Fat Boy more affordable and more cost efficient than some car brands with plain stock options.
