The Harley Davidson Heritage Softail® Motorcycle - Part I
It's still the roar that gets people's spines tingling and hearts racing, even those who adamantly deny
having any affection towards two-wheeled transport. The Heritage Softail is no exception to Harley's claim to fame
and it has more going for it than just it's roar!
You might call it light touring- the 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic has all of the conveniences
of a mid-range touring bike like leather bags, passenger backrest, and wind screen, leaving conspicuously absent
the radio, fairing, and armchair seating to be found on what would be called dedicated touring motor bikes.
The 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, make no mistake, will notch up some significant mileage
before you're feeling a requirement to pit in for the night, nevertheless it takes those miles in an easy going
pace- as if this motor bike were purpose-built for long areas of mountain highway much more than the interstate
road system.
Seen the flick "Cars " with your children yet? The 2010
Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic would be the Route 66-riding, Radiator Springs-exploring counter
interstate culture ride that would have fit right in with those wacky characters. Just picture the driving
lights with eyeballs, and you're all set. For 2010, the Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic is
essentially unvaried from last model year, saving for the new Helical-cut 5th gear that reportedly improves
the transmission sound.
For this year, you will find that the 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic is fitted out with a
staggered shorty exhaust, full coverage front fender, Lexan windscreen, and obviously, leather saddlebags.
The inducement behind this ride remains Harley's powerful 96B Twin-Cam engine, displacing 1,584cc and
manufacturing 92.195 rated lb / ft of torque at three thousand Revs per minute . Fed with electronic sequential
port fuel injection, the 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic gets a respectable 54 mpg in road fuel use,
while town fuel use is rated at 35 mpg.
A chain last drive puts the power down, and braking is handled by four-piston front brakes and two-piston
rears.
